Mysterious sightings keep locals guessing

A number of area residents have come forward saying they also saw the mysterious lights witnessed by Steve Allen and friends Tuesday night in Selden.

“It was like nothing I've ever seen before,” comes up over and over in their descriptions of bright lights in the sky. Accounts have come in from various locations and a few of those brave enough to come forward are listed below with stories of their own.

Major Karl Lewis of Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth (Carswell Field) believes he might be able to solve the mystery in a couple of days.

Allen said his phone rang all day Wednesday with people reporting to him that they had seen the strange lights in the sky.

“I live 4.6 miles out on Hwy. 67. About 6:15 p.m. I saw something as I was turning in my driveway. I won't say it was a UFO but I will say it was UFL, meaning it was unidentified flying lights. They were real bright yellow and I thought I must be seeing the sun reflecting off a plane. I'm guessing they were five miles away from me. But, they were unusually bright like a welding arc being struck - it was that bright. I don't discount UFOs but I don't necessarily believe in them either. I got a call this morning saying there was story about a UFO in today's paper and it was out where I live. I immediately said, ‘Yeah, I saw it.' I was looking west/southwest.”

“I was outside with my eight-year-old son, Ryan, when I saw lights. It was like nothing I've ever seen before. It was dark already. At first it was two red burning glows that went away and then came back on. I went inside to tell my wife. When I came back out I saw something like lights you'd see in a bar. My little boy and I counted and we came up with nine flashes and they were real spread out. But I couldn't see them attached to anything, just the lights. So I went to my pickup and got my binoculars to see if I could see a plane or something. Even with the binoculars there was no outline. It started moving towards Stephenville and moving so fast I had trouble following it with my binoculars. It covered a big area. It sounds crazy but we really saw what we saw. As a matter of fact I mentioned it to an officer in Stephenville and he called me up and said to get the Stephenville paper because I wasn't going to believe what was in it. I also went to the Dublin paper but they had no other reports on it so I just dropped it. But my little boy went to school the next day and told everybody all about what we'd seen.”

“I had just left the nursing home from seeing my husband. I was going down 914 towards Alexander. Just as I got to the hill at Alexander where Hwy. 6 crosses I saw them - the lights. It scared me. I thought two planes were about to collide. The lights were as bright as a school bus ahead of you but up in the air. They were certainly much closer to the ground than I would appreciate them to be. I looked in my mirrors and there were no reflections. Just as I got up to the top of the hill they were gone. It was about 6:40 p.m.”

“I was a navigational specialist in the Air Force and I don't know what it was that I saw while I was walking two friends to their car at my home. But as soon as I saw it I jokingly said to them, ‘Hey look - a UFO.' I saw two red lights acting unusual. There were two very bright red lights traveling in formation. By formation I mean they kept their positions respective to each other. They were so intensely bright that I realized they must be at a low altitude. But, there was no noise. The lights were not like a helicopter or a plane. I live near the courthouse, actually two blocks from it, towards the river. I was looking north. It was unusual.”

Life On Mars?

Did NASA scientists discover - but not recognize- microbial life on Mars back in the 70s? Maybe. Check this out. Dirk Schulze-Makuch, a geology professor at Washington State University, states in a paper presented at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Seattle that NASA’s Viking mission to Mars of the 1970s was looking for life like that found on Earth: in which the internal liquid of living cells is salt water. However, Schulze-Makuch argues, taking into consideration the cold, dry conditions that exist on the red planet, life might have evolved there with the internal fluid comprised of water and hydrogen-peroxide.

We need to remember that life “out there” may indeed be profoundly different to anything we have imagined thus far - or perhaps even anything we currently can imagine, given our current lack of firm knowledge on the subject.

We also need to remember that the discovery of any form of life that originates outside of the Earth has profound implications for not just mainstream science but for Ufology, too. It doesn’t matter if that life is in the form of a classic, black-eyed, big-headed alien, or is in the form of a tiny microbe - as per the NASA story. Life is life. If microbial life exists on Mars, then who knows what awaits us elsewhere?

There seems that at least 2 different types of machines are flying over LA. Witnesses observe small objects flying at high altitude, of red or silver plated color, moving in formation at high speed, and untouched by the AAA salvos. Their pace is an estimated 29000 km/h. There is also a larger object which remains stationary for some time, then, when lightened by the projectors above Culver City, starts to move at a constant speed of 100 km/h in the direction of the Santa Monica cost, and later southwards in direction of Long Beach, where it goes out of sight. This large object has been touched by many AAA projectiles, according to the reports. The anti aircraft defence continues to shoot at UFOS.

04:14: There is a cease-fire, 1430 6 kilogram shells have been used. No bomb has been dropped by the unknown flying objects, and none of them could be shot down.

RESEARCH ON PLANETS SIMILAR TO EARTH

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AFP) - Planets resembling Earth can be found orbiting many sun-like stars in our galaxy, increasing the prospects of finding extraterrestial life on some of them, according to a study released Sunday. University of Arizona astronomer Michael Meyer, working with NASA's Spitzer space telescope, said his research shows that between 20 percent and 60 percent of stars similar to our sun have conditions favorable for forming rocky planets like Earth. "To study the evolution of gas and dust around sun-like stars is to understand the formation and evolution of planetary systems" said Meyer, who was to present his findings Monday at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. "If we were thinking of what life could emerge around other stars, we might want to know how common rocky planets like Earth might be" he said of his findings, which also appear in the latest edition of Astrophysical Journal Letters. But he said a lot more research is needed to pin down the prospects for extraterrestial life somewhere in the universe. "What we need is much more data, more missions, more observations to inform what we hope will become a predicted theory of planet formation that we can use to guide our search for life in the universe" Meyer said at a press conference. The astronomer and his team of scientists studied six groups of stars -- all similar to our sun and sorted by age -- with the youngest being between 10 and 30 million years old and the oldest between a billion and three billion years old.

Ufos Aliens or natives?

The recent flood of UFO reports, alien abduction, exposed military reports and television shows on the subject brings a question to mind other than the existence of such things. Where are these spacecraft and aliens from?

The history channel and news reports as well Internet sources , with credible witnesses, photos and video clips have made these things existence all but scientific fact. Unless there is some sort of huge conspiracy between the entertainment industry and the military as well as hundreds, maybe thousands of pilots and sailors. Columbus even had an encounter with a USO (unidentified submerged object). Apparently alien encounters and craft sightings have been witnessed as long as man has been here.

So who are these aliens and where are they from? Outer space is the most popular theory for where and most would say outer space creatures for who. The fact that they make a minimal impact on us and that there is a lack of physical evidence is commonly considered by sceptics as good argument against the believers. However for an alternative theory of the origin of aliens and spaceships the lack of interaction and physical evidence is supportive. What if these craft and encounters are us humans in time machines taking tours of history. In the fantastic realm of time travel theory and popular fiction, time travelers have the responsibility to not cause disruptions that could be fatal to them and others (like running over yourself in the past). Thus would account for the lack of interaction. One story on the history channel included a retired military man that claimed much of the technology we have today he recovered from a downed spacecraft, fiber optics and micro chips naming two. This could support the theory of time travellers, the fact we can use this stuff.

With more research and more witnesses getting older, even those sworn to secrecy, the question of if they are real will be replaced. Are they really aliens or natives to this planet?

1984 soviet story

The Soviet Tanker GORIIn June 1984, the Soviet tanker Gori was in the Mediterranean, twenty nautical miles from the Straight of Gibraltar. At 16:00, Alexander G. Globa was on duty. With him was Second-in-Command S. Bolotov. They were standing watch at the left bridge extension wing when both men observed a strange polychromatic object.
When the object was astern, it stopped suddenly. S. Bolotov was agog, shaking his binoculars and shouting: "It is a flying saucer, a real saucer, my God, hurry, hurry, look!" Globa looked through his own binoculars and saw, at a distance over the stern, a flattened out looking object (it did remind him of an upside-down frying pan). The UFO was gleaming with a grayish metallic shine. The lower portion of the craft had a precise round shape, its diameter no more than twenty meters. Around the lower portion of it Globa also observed "waves" of protuberances on the outside plating.
The base of the object's body consisted of two semi-discs, the smaller being on top; they slowly revolved in opposing directions. At the circumference of the lower disc Globa saw numerous shining, bright, bead-like lights. The seaman's attention was centered on the bottom portion of the UFO.
It looked as if it was completely even and smooth, its color that of a yolk, and in the middle of it Globa discerned a round, nucleus-like stain. Editor's Note: The "yolk" color inside the bottom is obviously that yellow glow or amber light so often described. This observation took place during the day.

RUSSIAN INCIDENT

Russian TV stations recently aired two documentaries about UFO’s, a real treat for the Russian ufologists, a community of enthusiasts studying unidentified flying objects.
The films are particularly notable for the UFO accounts by high-raking Soviet and Russian Navy and Air Force officers.
Information relating to UFO’s was strictly classified in the USSR. Some of the enthusiasts who spread samizdat booklets with articles on the subject compiled from the foreign media were at times taken to the KGB for questioning.
The funniest thing is that the KGB has allegedly had a special unit designed to gather and monitor all pieces of information regarding mystical and unexplained phenomena reported inside and outside the Soviet Union. An article published some time ago by a Madrid magazine Mas Alla probably indicates that the above allegations hold water. The magazine also published several stills from a film by U.S. TV station TNT affiliated with CNN.
Both the magazine and film say that in 1968 the KGB supposedly took possession of an UFO, which had either crashed or been shot down by the Soviet air defense. The Soviet secret police were alleged to have obtained the body of a humanoid in the cockpit. The body was thoroughly examined in an anatomy department of the Semashko Medical Institute in Moscow. The TV station claims that the film was based on a footage of the incident provided by one Pavel Klimchenkov, a former KGB officer. According to TNT officials, the documents are a deliberate “leak” to the media.
Klimcheko flashed his allegedly genuine ID on camera as though he was proving that he really was a retired KGB officer. He did not elaborate on the “leak” and said nothing as to its purposes. Therefore, the mystical story should draw comments on the official level, according to the magazine. There has been no response from the Russian authorities so far.
British actor Roger Moore, one of the two most famous Bonds, was hired by TNT to spike the film with a flavor of sensationalism. He presented the story based on the events that took place near the town of Berezniki in the Urals in 1968.

2006 sighting

At approx 1920 on 8 Sep 2006, myself and 9 friends and family were preparing to go to a high school football game, we were all out front of my home when my wife asked me what some object in the sky was coming from across the tree line on the other side of our street, the object was black and round with a white light, not blinking on the bottom, it also had what seemed like a very dull white light spinning around it at its center, the object had no wings no visible engines, and made no noise, it appeared to be approx ½ the size of an airliner, it made absolutely no noise, and moved very slow, we watched it for about 5 minutes before our sons friend went and got his video cam corder and filmed it for about 2.5 minutes, my neighbors from across the street came out an witnessed it for about the final 5 minutes. The object after about 3 minutes changed the white light to a rapidly bright flashing red light for several seconds then would go to no lights at all before the white light on the bottom re-appeared. The object eventually continued due north till it was obscured by the trees.

RESENT SIGHTING REPORT

Indiana-01-31-2008-I was home alone and decided to go to the kitchen to get a glass of water and maybe find a snack. Just as I approached the kitchen/dining room area (they're the same room and we have a bay-window/patio door there) I noticed what I immediately thought was a helicopter about 300-400 feet away, just across the street and above the tree-line. Because we kind of live in the country, I thought that was unusual... then it hit me that I couldn't hear any noise at all! And then the obvious shape difference hit me like a bag of rocks and I ran for my camera - literally (I almost tripped over a rug). I don't know how long it was there before I saw it, but it hung around for 2 or 3 minutes after I noticed it... not moving or flashing or anything. The only thing I noticed was a sort of wavy-ness of the air surrounding the object - that's probably what stuck me most, actually. It resembled kind of what you see over a hot road on a summer day. It was getting dark, but I distinctly remember the dark tree line shimmering just below the object, against the sky-glow. I had just enough time to take a picture on my camera (before the batteries died), and then I got one on my cell phone right before it "disappeared" --- I say that, because I believe it just went directly away from me at a high speed very suddenly... it actually appeared to grow smaller and disappear, but curve up slightly as it was doing so. The direction was about directly westward I believe. Long ago, when I was a young kid, I remember seeing a funny light in the sky (from very far away) and watching it do all sorts of "tricks" ~ but I couldn't actually see it as an object. This is the only other time that I have seen something this close, that I know from my own eyes what I saw in a detailed manner. UFOs & Aliens: "Ohio-02-03-08-I was driving east of Porter, Ohio on state route 554 at approximately 2:30-3:00 PM on Sunday. It was a cloudy day and the sun was hitting clouds directly in front of me and something caught my eye to where I slowed and tried to see it better. The clouds were low and colored from light to dark and I saw a blue blimp looking craft, not extremely high altitude it seemed. It seemed to be big, like a blimp and moved at a fairly good speed right amongst the clouds going from west to east in a straight line.
I had a car behind me, so I had to look at the road and drive, but it did not really fit that it moved steadily and at a good speed, but was not like a plane and was right in the rain clouds. I must admit, I just couldn't make a definite identification that quick, but as a few days went by, it just keeps sticking in my mind that it was out of place compared to anything I had ever seen. UFOs & Aliens: "Maryland-02-07-08-It was 6:55 PM EST, and I had just exited my house to go on an errand. I live in a court that has 5 houses in it, and I park my car on the outside edge of the court. As I was walking towards my car, I saw a bright star-like object in the southwest sky. It was the brightest thing I have ever seen in the sky. It was about 3-5 times brighter than anything I've ever seen in the sky, including a star or Venus.
I starred at it for approximately 5 seconds, before if faded out of my vision. It was not an airplane, a helicopter, a planet or star.
I am almost certain it was not the International Space Station passing through the sky, as I have seen that in the sky three times, and the object I saw on this evening was much brighter than that, and it did not move through space like the space station does. I was totally amazed about what I saw tonight. At first I thought that it might have been a star having a supernova, in fact I am pretty sure that's what it could have been.
